League Rules

  1. The league will consists of 10 franchises, or teams. A franchise may be owned by one or more people. Several people may want to share a franchise to split potential loses, or to pool their knowledge. A yearly franchise fee of $200 will be collected when a franchise enters the league for a season. A $10 deposit will also be collected to cover costs at the end of the season.

  2. A draft (See Draft Order) will be held on a mutually agreed apon night preceding the 1st NFL regular season game. A representative from each team MUST be present.

  3. Each week during the regular season, each team will submit a starting line-up consisting of:

    • One Quarterback

    • Two Running Backs

    • One Tight End

    • Two Receivers

    • One Flex (Running Back, Receiver or Tight End

    • One Quarterback

    • Six Flex (Running Back, Receiver or Tight End

    • One Defense/Special Teams Team

  5. Lineups must be submitted prior to the start of the first game. In the event that a lineup is not submitted, the previous week's lineup will be used. However, individual players may be changed up until 15 minutes before their game starts

  6. In the event that a game gets postponed and rescheduled for a future week and the lineup selection deadline has passed for that week. The situation will be treated as an injury. Any players played, simply get 0 points for the week. Owners are responsible for their lineup each week and should monitor such events.

  7. The franchises will be divided into two divisions, the AFC and NFC, by a random draw by the commissioner before the draft. You’ll play inter-conference teams three times each and non-conference teams once.

  8. Every week each team will be matched against another team in head-to-head competition. The losing franchises during that week will be required to pay, at the end of the season, a fee of $5 per loss. In the case of a tie, each team will be required to pay ($2.50). This money will be distributed to those teams that have a winning record for the overall regular season (this is separate from the pot).

  9. At the end of the regular season, the team with the best record (in case of a tie see tie breakers) in each division will be the division champ. The team with the second best record (in case of a tie see tie breakers ), will be the runners-up. The winner of the championship playoffs is the league champion for that year.

  10. During the playoffs, owners must submit a weekly lineup or use the defaulted players from the previous week. Simply having players available to play a position is not acceptable.

  11.  How the pot is divided.

    20% each division winner
    15% each division runner up
10% championship playoff winner (overall champ)
    10% consolation playoff winner
10% most points scored (during regular season)

  12. A 25% Luxury Tax shall be imposed on any owner missing the draft. A 10% Luxury Tax shall be imposed on any owner missing the end of year banquet. The Luxury Tax shall be used towards the tab for the end of year banquet. This tax is only imposed if the owner receives money from pot dispersions.

  13. In order to avoid living with incorrect knowledge due to misprints, ambiguous wording, etc.., the commission maintains the right to overrule decisions based on such, provided that the correct knowledge can be obtained from other sources.

  1. Points for touchdowns scored by the offense vary by the length of the play:

    Yards Points
    0 - 24 20
    25 - 49 30
    50 - 74 40
    75 - up 50
  2. On a run, the player receives all of the points. On a pass, the thrower and catcher split the points.

  3. Offensive Points for yards gained:

    Description Points
Starting at 100 passing yards and every 25 after that 1
Starting at 50 rushing and receiving Yards and every 10 after that 1

  4. Points for successful field goals by the kicker vary by the distance of the kick:

  5. Yards Points
    0 - 35  5
    36 - 49  7
    50 - 59 10
    60 - up 15
    Extra point  1

  6. Special Team scores when a kick-off or punt is returned for a touchdown. This is worth 20 points.

  7. Defense

    Scoring Play Points
Interception or fumble recovery for a touchdown 20
    Safety 5
    Fumble Recovery 5
    Interception 5
    Shut Out 20
    Under 10 Points Allowed 15

  8. A 2 point conversion will be worth 10 points. On a run, the running back receives all of the points, on a pass, the quarterback and receiver split the points.

  9. A player can only score from the position from which he is played (submitted roster). This does not mean a kicker cannot catch a touchdown from a fake kick for example. AS LONG AS THE PLAYER IS POSITIONED AS STARTED, ANYTHING GOES!! This is a difficult to determine but we’ll figure it out when it happens.

  10. Special Teams Touchdowns vs Defensive Touchdowns.  A kickoff or punt returned for a touchdown will be scored as a special teams touchdown.  A punt or field goal blocked , that is returned for a touchdown will be scored as a defensive touchdown.

  11. Double Turnover Touchdowns.  If the offense is on the field and there is an offensive turnover, followed by a defensive turnover, resulting in the offense scoring a touchdown. It will be scored as an offensive rushing touchdown with the yardage is marked at the point of the turnover.

  1. Players may be traded between teams. Trading Future Draft Picks is no longer allowed.

  2. Trades are NOT allowed after week 13 (including the playoffs).

  3. Trade tariffs are no longer levied.

  4. Once a player has been traded from one team to another, he may not be traded back to his original team unless he is obtained by a third team and subsequently traded back to his original team.

  5. The commission retains the right to veto ANY trade that seriously disrupts the competitive balance of the league.

  6. If a player is traded before game submission time, he may be submitted as a starter for that week, if not, that team must wait until the following week to be able to start him. Both teams involved must contact the commissioners for the trade to become active.

  1. The two division champs and each division runner enter the championship playoffs. The remaining teams will be entered into the consolation playoffs.

  2. Each week of the playoffs, every team will submit a playoff line-up, just as during the regular season. In the case of the playoffs, only players from NFL teams playing that week may be submitted (obviously). Some weeks, franchises may not be able to field a full line-up.

  3. Scoring is the same as during the regular season, except that these points earned do not add to your end of season point total, only to your playoff point total.

  4. There are no two team pairings during the playoffs. Each team is competing against each other team in its playoff category for the most points.

  5. The playoff winners in their categories are determined by the total team points scored during the playoffs.

  1. For division champions, and the two runner-ups, the tiebreaking rules will be determined as follows:

    •  most number of wins.

    •  most number of ties.

    •  head-to-head

    •  conference wins

    •  total points

    •  coin flip

  2. For the supplemental draft, the tiebreaking rules will be determined as follows:

    •  least number of wins

    •  least number of ties

    •  worst head-to-head record

    •  least number of total points

    •  coin flip

  3. Head To Head Resolution for the regular season will be based on the total record of the teams all the teams involved. A tie is counted as a half win.
    For Example:
       Team 1 is 3-0 vs Team 2
       Team 2 is 2-1 vs Team 3
       Team 3 is 2-1 vs Team 1

       Team 1 = 4-2
       Team 2 = 2-4
       Team 3 = 3-3
Team one wins the tie breaker.

  4. Head to Head Resolution for the supplemental draft will use the rest of the tiebreakers and once tiebreaker has been passed in the hierarchy, it can not be used again as a tie breaker.
    For Example:
Team 1 has a winning head-to-head record against Team 2 and Team 1 has 500 total points
Team 2 has a winning head-to-head record against Team 3 and Team 1 has 600 total points
Team 3 has a winning head-to-head record against Team 1 and Team 1 has 400 total points

In this case, the head to head record is even for all teams, so we must go to the next tie breaker, which is total points.
Team 2 would get the first seed based on the highest number of points.
Team 1 would get the second seed based on the second highest number of points.
Team 3 would finish last (even though he has the a better head to head record against Team 1).

  5. If two or more teams are tied in points for the playoff championships or consolation playoffs, there will be no tiebreaker, the teams tied will split the money. This will also apply for the 10% of the pot that will be distributed for the most 'regular season points'.

  6. These procedures will apply to any tie breaking matters dealing with the FFFL, when applicable.

  1. The draft order for the next season is determined before the beginning of the season.

  2. All teams will be placed in a single lottery. Draft or is randomly generated.

  3. The rep. cannot be an owner of another franchise except with consent from the other team owners. Each franchise will draft 20 players (special/defensive teams also drafted) from the NFL, which will be that franchise's lineup, regardless of injury or bye weeks. The draft order reverses after every round of the draft. If you pick first in the round 1, you pick tenth in round 2, the 20th overall pick.

  1. The supplemental draft will take place on a mutually agreed apon night following week 9.

  2. Since the majority of your franchise is selected in the FFFL August Draft, owners who cannot attend will not be allowed to draft unless a representative is sent. The rep. cannot be an owner of another franchise.

  3. The draft order will be determined by the worst record after week 8. The team with the worst record picks first and team will the best record picks tenth.

  4. The draft is 8 rounds and the draft order remains the same for each round.

  5. If a pick was traded, and either owner doesn't show up for the draft, then the trade is null a void.
